✱ Discover the world of Shetland ponies with us
Get to know ponies from a whole new perspective. Pony Moments is an experience that brings you closer to the world of ponies and shows that a real bond grows through patience, trust and time spent together. At AlpaCafé we have created an activity in which you are not just a visitor, but for a little while also a carer and friend to our pony.
After a short welcome, you meet our pony and learn how to look after it properly. Together you brush it, braid its mane, put on its halter and get it ready for a walk. When everything is ready, you set off together on a calm walk through our natural grounds, while our assistants share interesting facts from the world of ponies and are happy to answer all your questions. At the end, you enjoy a drink from our menu in the pleasant atmosphere of AlpaCafé.
Pony Moments is an ideal experience for children and adults who love animals and want to take home not only lovely photos, but also new skills and unforgettable memories.

✱ How does this activity work?
Pause for a moment and get ready for a slow walk alongside a creature that will teach you how to enjoy the present moment. Pony Moments is an experience that combines moving in nature with the therapy of touch and the wordless closeness of animals.
- After entering the grounds, turn right and you will find our AlpaCafé bistro. Please be on time, the activity starts at the exact scheduled time.
- Show our staff your reservation confirmation and you will be shown where the activity begins.
- The activity takes place in our natural grounds. Our animal care assistant stays with you throughout, telling you more about the ponies’ lives, their character and how to spend time with them mindfully, and teaching you the basics of pony care.
- Your group has one pony to itself. Your group is made up only of the people in your reservation, without being joined with other visitors.
- The activity does not include feeding, so that we can keep our ponies’ feeding routine and health in good order.
- The experience also includes a moment to relax in our café, where you can enjoy a drink of your choice.
✱ GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS AND VISITING WITH CHILDREN
The experience is suitable for children too, but only with an adult who keeps an eye on their behaviour. Because this is a very hands-on activity, children cannot take part on their own.
Ponies are generally sensitive to sudden movements and noise, so it is important to follow the staff’s instructions to keep the activity safe and pleasant for everyone. Please respect the rules our animal care assistant will explain to you.
In very bad weather, this activity will be moved to another date, or we will refund the amount you paid.
Pony Moments is a calm and gentle activity that asks us to respect the pony’s rhythm and the space around it. If anyone behaves inappropriately towards the animal, we reserve the right to step in to keep everyone safe and at ease.

✱ Recommended preparation before your visit
This activity takes place outdoors in our natural grounds, so please dress for the weather on the day. We recommend clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Sturdy, closed shoes are best, as we will be walking mostly on grass. In summer, we recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses and wearing sunscreen.
In very bad weather, this activity will be moved to another date of your choice, or we can give you a full refund on request.
✱ Cancellation terms
7+ days before the start of the event
Free change of date, or a 100 % refund.
If you don’t choose a new date right away, you will receive a voucher valid for 3 months.
3 – 6 days before the start of the event
We will try to find stand-ins – if we succeed, we will offer you a change of date or a 100 % refund. If we don’t find any, we will give you a voucher worth 50 % of the total price.
Less than 2 days before the event
If you cancel your reservation within 48 hours of the start, or do not show up, we charge the full price of the reservation.
✱ Reservations are transferable
If you can’t attend, you can give your reservation to someone else. Just send us the new visitor’s name in advance.
✱ Bad weather or other force majeure
If we ever have to cancel an event on our side (e.g. extreme weather, health reasons of the animals), we will offer you a new date or a full refund.

Go to the ‘Contact’ section, where you will find our contact form. Once you fill it in, we will reply by e-mail. We always try to answer as soon as possible, but we handle every request individually, so it may take a little while – we apologise in advance and thank you for your understanding. If your request or question is urgent, you can also reach us by phone.
