Walk with alpacas

A therapeutic walk with alpacas that will lift your spirits!

a therapeutic walk with alpacas

✱ Step by step towards calm

Some moments can stop us in our tracks – not by force, but by calm. A walk with alpacas is one of them. At AlpaCafé we believe that time with nature and animals can deepen our relationship with ourselves. That is why we have prepared a gentle, mindful activity that lets you settle into the quiet rhythm of nature. After a short welcome, you set off with our alpacas on a slow walk through our natural grounds. Along the way, our assistants share interesting facts from the world of alpacas and answer all your curious questions. At the end of the walk there is time for stroking, photos together and simply resting in the company of the alpacas. A drink from our menu is included in the price – enjoy it in our nature park, in our outdoor seating area, or take it with you.

✱ Children up to 3 years old (inclusive) get FREE ENTRY to all our alpaca activities! Just write the number of children under 3 in the note when you make your reservation.

Activity summary for Walk with alpacas: duration 1 hour, a walk leading the alpacas through our nature park, price includes a guide, a drink of your choice and a postcard to remember us by, €15 / person, children under 3 free.

✱ How does this activity work?

Pause for a moment. Switch off your thoughts and set off on a slow walk alongside creatures that will teach you how to enjoy the present moment. Walk with alpacas is an experience that combines moving in nature with the quiet therapy of touch and the wordless closeness of animals.

  1. After entering the grounds, turn right and you will find our AlpaCafé bistro. Please be on time, the activity starts at the exact scheduled time.
  2. Show our staff your reservation confirmation and you will be shown where the activity begins.
  3. The walk takes place in our natural grounds. Each pair or group of three is given one alpaca, and our animal care assistant stays with you throughout the activity, telling you more about the alpacas’ lives, their character and how to spend time with them mindfully.
  4. The activity does not include feeding, but along the way you can pick grass and offer it to the alpacas – they love it. Please don’t give them anything other than fresh grass straight from our grounds.
  5. When the activity ends, our staff lead the alpacas back to their enclosure next door. Your drink from our menu is included in the price – enjoy it before the walk, during it or at the end. You are welcome to sit in our natural grounds or in our comfortable outdoor armchairs.

✱ GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS AND VISITING WITH CHILDREN

The experience is suitable for children too, but only with an adult who keeps an eye on their behaviour. Because this is a very hands-on activity, children cannot take part on their own.

Alpacas are very sensitive to sudden movements and noise, so it is important to follow the staff’s instructions to keep the activity safe and pleasant for everyone. Please respect the feeding rules – the alpacas may only have grass from our grounds, which you can pick during the walk and offer them slowly if they feel like it.

In bad weather, this activity takes place in our AlpaCafé bistro and automatically changes to Feed & Greet – feeding the alpacas (without refreshments). You can find more about feeding the alpacas in the “Feed & Greet” section of our website.

Walking with alpacas is a calm and gentle activity that asks us to respect the animals’ rhythm and the space around them. If anyone behaves inappropriately towards the animals or other participants, we reserve the right to step in to keep everyone safe and at ease.

Thank you for coming to us with respect, curiosity and an open heart. That is when the most beautiful moments happen – quiet, sincere and unforgettable.

✱ Recommended preparation before your visit

This activity takes place outdoors in our natural grounds, so please dress for the weather on the day. We recommend clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Sandals or open shoes are not recommended, as an alpaca might accidentally step on your foot and we will be walking on grass. Like dogs, alpacas have soft pads on their feet, but their toenails can be quite sharp.

In bad weather, this activity takes place in our AlpaCafé bistro and automatically changes to Feed & Greet – feeding the alpacas (without refreshments). In summer, we recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses and wearing sunscreen.
